Tonight we leave for Thanksgiving in Vermont through Sunday. Thanksgiving will be spent with our letterboxing Davidow family. Sue and I are "thinking snow" because we want to use our new snowshoes while checking our Symbols of Freedom series. We plan to plant a few more letterboxes while in Vermont. Not quite sure where - may add on to the Symbols series or place them elsewhere. We feel that Vermont needs more letterboxes and will work towards that end - afterall, the state is 75% undeveloped - a letterboxer's paradise!
I am working on a new series called Vermont Firsts, which will be located around Vermont celebrating items that were first developed or accomplished in the state of Vermont. I have started to carve my own stamps two weeks ago which has brought about a whole new appreciation for the time, effort and creativity that goes into creating a letterbox. I don't think I will ever reach the quality of carvers like legerdemaine, TeamGreenDragon, RTRW and many others, but I find it good therapy!
If everything goes according to plan, we will letterbox in the Keene, NH area on Friday. There are a few letterboxes in Sheiling Forest that have eluded us in the past and we will try for our second time. Stay tuned for our weekend report on Monday. Sue and I wish you all a safe and wonderful holiday! We all have so much for which to be thankful!

We met about 8 letterboxers at Gillette's Castle this morning that stamped into ScoutDog's F-100 Postal Box. A special award goes to Laurette from RI who drove the farthest! While we were there, Sue & I did the letterboxes at the castle as well as some others in the area. Second Sunday in a row that we picked up some hitchhikers! We will be mailing the F-100 stamp out to Mike S. in MA this week.

Sue and I received ScoutDog's F-100 Postal Letterbox this week! In an effort to get as many boxers stamped in on this, we have decided to have a quick meet in the parking lot of Gillette Castle on this Sunday, November 23 at 11:30. After that, Sue & I will look for the letterboxes there. All are welcome to not only stamp into this logbook, but enjoy the boxing with us. Our time is limited, but this will give us a chance to see all of our friends in one place. Hope that you can make it!

Guess we made a mistake - we have not solved Mapsurfer's The Name of the Box. Well, back to square one!!!
While we may have not solved the above, Sue & I solved and found legerdemaine's HOW letterbox today. We both took a "sick day" off from work in our effort to find it!

The new Box of the Week is Lt. Core Memorial, a series of 4 letterboxes, located in the Farmington Memorial Forest. Placed by Bell Lady and CT TrAAveler, this forest is also the location of
Rubaduc's FMF Duo, which is 2 boxes. This spot could be the up and coming location for central Connecticut.

Quite a weekend! Dinner with Randy Hall, Wanda & Pete and Brian & Lori of TeamGreenDragon! Then, Sue and I solved Randy's The Name of the Box at 1:30 Sunday morning! Sunday morning we headed out letterboxing, picked up 7 boxes and a Hitchhiker, which made our PFX500! See our Finds Page 2 for the details. Ain't letterboxing grand?
Sue and I got the Crystal Mall EMS Letterbox , Wanda's new mystery traveler and TeamGreenDragon's new signature stamp on Saturday evening, as well as our Letterboxing Companion book signed by Randy. We are only 3 boxes away from our PFX500! Going out on Sunday to letterbox in Southern MA as well as West Hartford, CT. Let you know how we make out.
Jay Drew is finishing up his interview this weekend. Check back early next week for that.
Wanda & Pete are next!

Sue & I had a great weekend in VT with friends at Juniper Hill Inn, in Windsor, VT. Susanne & Rob Pearl are excellent innkeepers and have a wonderful establishment with great service and extensive attention to detail. They have agreed to let us place a letterbox there. Watch for it sometime in the spring of 2004.
We letterboxed and Valley Quested in Brownsville, Quechee, Woodstock and Windsor, VT as well as Cornish and Charlestown, NH. We ran into C&H from New London, CT on the trail by the Quechee Gorge! Our friends had a chance to experience their first on-trail exchange! Thanks to Rubaduc, Chapuline & MommaFox and Valley Quest for some great stamps and alot of fun!!!

Sue & I are headed to VT Thursday night . We hope to hit Rubaduc's Vermont Bug, Chapuline's Brownsville Cemetery , MommaFox's Quechee Gorge and Ottauquechee River Bridge and many, many of the Valley Quests in Quechee, Woodstock and Windsor. May even cross the bridge into Cornish, NH and hit a few quests there on our way home. Have a great weekend. Check back with us early next week for our weekend report.
I added a new, cool link that helps identify most trees in the Northern and Central US by asking a series of questions to narrow down and eventually isolate a species of tree. Try it!

Due to the huge response we have received to the Randy Hall interview, I have decided to pester a few other letterboxing personalities with more questions. Stay tuned in the coming months for our Letterboxing Interview Series with Jay Drew, Wanda & Pete, Carol Stearns [Leader of the Pack], Funhog and more. If you have any buring questions you would like asked of them, please email me your thoughts and questions. I am working on about 8 others to accept, so stay tuned. Also - who knows when legerdemaine may decide to email another clue to me???
Sunday, November 2
Just got back from VT, where we did 6 of the Valley Quests in Norwich, VT and Hanover and West Lebanon, NH. Two of the quests were located on the beautiful Dartmouth College campus. Steve Glazer, of Valley Quest, had mailed Sue and I several "test quests" to try out and critique the clues.
