Our new Box of the Week is by 98. Birds of the Giant has 4 boxes that are placed strategically around Sleeping Giant Park where the placer has seen the particular bird that the letterbox represents. Now you can really up your count with these 4 new letterboxes added to the 25 or so that already exist at Sleeping Giant. Don't forget to print out the new color trail map of the park before you go!

Back from the Cape and we are 11 letterboxes richer! We hit and found the Grist Mill in Plymouth, MA and struck out on Plymouth Rock Letterbox as it was too wet - I sunk into the marshy grass up to the top of my sneakers. Hated to leave this one, especially when I knew just where it was!! By the way, Lori & Brian - is that a new signature stamp we saw in the Grist Mill logbook - COOL!
Today, after a great breakfast at Hearth & Kettle [I love this place for breakfast!!], we went to Harwich, Chatham, Brewster, Dennis and Yarmouthport to find 10 boxes. See our Finds [Page 2 - 201 - 400] for the details.
As was discussed at length on the letterboxing talk list, several of the boxes we found were left uncovered, in plain sight of anyone passing by. We must all try to be a little more careful when we re-hide a letterbox so that it is there for the next boxer. Part of our responsibility as a letterboxer is to ensure that the box is well-hidden so as to preserve the box for the future!

Look for our report on Monday.
Stay safe, have a great weekend and . . . have fun and get out there & box!!!

This week's Box of the Week goes to Swamp Yankee & Sunshine for their new Pop's Cap. Located in Higganum, CT, this letterbox has a great story that makes this an even more special find. It's amazing how childhood memories can influence our lives and stay with us. Hope you all can get to this one.
And . . . hat's off to you, Pop!!

Sue and I took a quick trip to East Haddam tonight and did Jay Drew's Flower Drum Song in East Haddam, CT. While the first box by the gazebo was missing, [several known letterboxers reported the same when we stamped in on the 2nd box] we still managed to find the second and third in the series. Great stamps and we witnessed a lovely sunset from the second box overlooking the CT River. Since we took so long watching the sunset, we had to hustle and use a flashlight to find the third box!!
I think we are becoming "letterboxing gypsies!" I guess we could do worse!!!!

What a great gathering the Ginger Meets Molly gathering was! We didn't expect to get many exchanges as we have been to quite a few gatherings since the first of the year. Besides many "old" friends, we noticed a lot of new letterboxers which accounted for 35 new exchanges. It seems that this sport is growing by leaps and bounds.
Chuck, Chickabirdie, NeeDeeps, Teach & Preach and others did a wonderful job in organizing the event. Thanks for such a great event. The 3 series put out for the gathering were terrific with stamps carved by a Who's Who of letterboxing. The special boxes were great, including the Farewell to Psychokiwi's by Jay Drew and the special Psychokiwi's Bon Voyage Box made the day even more special.
Sue & I really enjoyed boxing with Bluebird for 1 of the series and with The Engraver, Corinna and Jennifer for the second series. Thanks for making this a great day.
The Psychokiwi's Bon Voyage Box brought us to 300 Finds which made it even more special. We wish them a safe journey home and hope to see them soon. Jay Drew's newsgroup post said over 40 letterboxers stamped in and offered their best wishes on his Farewell box. Besides the special event stamps, there were many hitchhikers that were shared . . . a boxious time was had by all!!!!!
Check out our Finds [Page 2] for the boxes we got there and our Exchanges Pages, which have all been updated to include the event.

Sue & I are making preparations for attending the CT Ginger Meets Molly Day Gathering tomorrow, Saturday, September 13 sponsored by Chuck & Molly. We are looking forward to the 12 Event Boxes that have been planted by some of CT's most celebrated letterboxers: Butterfly, Leader of the Pack, Irish Tinker, Music Woman, The NeeDeeps, Teach & Preach and others. Besides the event boxes, there is the Goodwin State Forest letterbox, Ants Go Marching, Celestial Series and others. As long as the weather holds out, we should have a great day - boxing and exchange and hitchhiker-wise!
Stay tuned on Monday for the gathering report. There will also be pictures at a later date.

With the advent of the 2 year anniversary of the events of September 11, I was emailed a wonderful link that shows a Ground Zero Quilt made by Lois Jarvis of Madison, WI. By clicking on this quilt, you can see the faces of everyone who perished at the World Trade Center towers. What a wonderful tribute to those fallen heroes and a lasting reminder of that horrific day.

This week's Box of the Week is Memorable Moments at Myles, located in Myles Standish State Forest in Carver/Plymouth, MA. Placed by Mary Manatee and The Yachtsman, this series of 4 boxes commemorates different events in their lives. They suggest that you pick up a trail map at the Cranberry Road forest headquarters. Enjoy!
Our new Poll of the Week is up. It relates to the cooler weather and how it might affect your letterboxing habits. Please vote now!

Well, it has been a very box-filled weekend. We ended up finding 12 and planting 1!
Saturday, Sue & I went out with Pris & Dan and found the 2 boxes at Riverbound Farm in Cheshire, CT. This farm was our Box of the Week and while there we happened upon our first ever on trail exchange. Sue was jumping up and down! We exchanged with Emily, Teresa and Fiona. Check out our Finds [Page 2] for the rest of Saturday's and Sunday's finds.
Sunday was a Stampin' Schmoopie day with our great friends; Dave & Nancy and Joe & Betsy. While boxing with them, I planted our 9th box, Golden Acorns, in Great Pond State Forest, part of the Massacoe State Forest in Simsbury, CT.

The new Box of the Week is Riverbound Farm Letterboxes, a series of 2 boxes, located in Cheshire at the Southington border in CT. The Quinnipiac Audubon Society owns and manages the Farm, so be sure to bring binoculars. This easy, 1 mile walk will produce 2 letterboxes and probably many bird sightings. Sue & I will be going here on Saturday, September 6 as long as the weather improves!

We had a wonderful Labor Day weekend in VT. Saturday, Sue & I went out "questing" in southern VT. Check out our Finds [Page 2] for the details. One of the quests, Herrick's Cove Bird Quest, was a lovely area that we will probably revisit with our canoe. At the point where the CT and Williams Rivers converge, several people have spotted over 200 varieties of birds. And guess who beat us to the box - Rubaduc!! Nice to be in such great company!
I was really excited to check up on our Symbols of Freedom Series letterboxes, as we haven't been back since we planted them on July 4th. There are over 8 letterboxers already signed in. Bluebird - sorry about the boo-boo; but did you have to leave proof!! :) While checking our box #2 in the series, Uncle Sam, on Sunday, August 31, I found the Sampson Hitchhiker that had just been placed that morning! We will move the box along this coming Sunday, when we have planned to go letterboxing in CT for the day.
Sue & I planted our 8th letterbox on Saturday in VT, The Inventor Mystery Series #1. This series is dedicated to those inventors whose names may not be on the tip of our tongues, but without whose common, everyday inventions life would be a little more difficult. Good luck and I would appreciate an email [link is below] from the first person who finds it! And a big thanks to RTRW, who carved the stamp that we used for this first letterbox in the series. No clues, Rebecca!
