This week's Box of the Week is "A Roaring K.I.M. Hike" Letterbox, which was planted by Junior Girl Scout Troop 73 at Roaring Brook Park, in Cheshire, CT.
K.I.M. stands for "Kids in Mind" and is a series of 5 boxes geared toward children. Adults will appreciate the historical information on the park that is located inside the front cover of each log book, as well as the great waterfalls. The stamp images are supposed to help tell the story of the park.

Box of the Week honors go to RustyPuff & CSCM and their Fertile Frond Box located at the site of the Winter Gathering in Sharon, MA. This is not only a great stamp, but a wonderful location that we cannot wait to explore in the warmer weather when the birds are back!

Winter Gathering Update: How do I begin! We arrived at the Moose Hill Wildlife Sanctuary shortly after noon. Approximately 75 letterboxers gathered in the 2 meeting rooms despite the 15 degree weather outside. It was a little intimidating to see so many letterboxers exchanging, but it didn't take us long to join in on the stamping frenzy. There was a great potluck lunch available with unusual and well-prepared food, several event stamps and event letterboxes. But our greatest thrill was to meet and exchange with the people behind the stamps including Wanda & Pete and Jay Drew. We began the day without any previous exchanges ["X"] and ended the day with 43 exchanges. It was a very exciting day and Sue, Lauren, Nicole and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Thanks to Team Green Dragon and Moonstone for boxing and exchanging stories with us - it truly made the day more special! Also, a very special thank you to RustyPuff and CSCM; without your efforts the day would have never happened! After a memorable day in MA, our current count is now:

This week's Box of the Week is a series recently completed by Leader of the Pack. It's called the CT Town Gazebo Series, which is a series of 6 micro boxes in 6 different CT towns: Baltic, Columbia, Killingly/Danielson, Andover, Hebron and Waterford. Don't forget to bring your own inkpad and pencil/pen as micro boxes are short on room! The completed stamped image will take up a 6" high by 4" wide space in your logbook with each town adding 1/6th of the image until the image is completed with the last box in Waterford. Since most locations are in extremely public place, please be discreet.

We added a "Google" search area so that you can look up letterboxing clues. Also new is our town's forecast/weather link where you may put in your own town or your letterboxing destination so that you can have up to the minute forecasts before you start out.

How would you like to have your personal letterboxing stamp become part of history? Check out the Smithsonian Letterbox that was placed by legerdemaine. It is located in the Smithsonian Castle building found on the grounds of the Smithsonian Institution in Washington DC and will be there just until early April 2003, when the scrolls that boxers have stamped in on become a part of a permanent exhibit! According to the latest post I've read, this box is on it's second scroll. Try and make this letterbox before they remove it in April - we don't get many chances to have our names in the Smithsonian!

Our new Box of the Week is the "Moo-Mahh Letterbox" [4 stamps], which was "planted" by SpringChick. The name of the box is derived from the sounds made by the two different animals referenced in the clues (not necessarily in English). There are a total of 4 stamps to be collected in this virtual adventure. The nice thing about virtual letterboxes is that with the snow cover we have in New England, we don't even have to put our boots and coats on. It is one of the few letterboxes we can find while surfing in our pj's!!. Just point and click. We also added a new visitor counter that appears in the bottom left column and will track the number of visitors that stop by our web page - so - bookmark this page and please visit us often!
